These barns have seen more than a century but still look pretty good. Someone has cared for them over the years. That has allowed for a drive-by photo on some back road, which resulted in this painting.
This is one of my favorite local scenes. I love the dominance of the grain elevator rising above some of our old farm towns. I've painted this scene en plein air and in my studio multiple times. It does not grow old.
"Waiting for Foreclosure" studies the life of this beautiful farmhouse. It had been on the market for quite some time and was falling into a state of disrepair that sometimes means the wrecking ball. Fortunately, the farmhouse was purchased, renovated, and this painting hangs there now.
